NaNoBlogMo, Day 5 – Extreme Values 2000

This afternoon, @snarke and I went to the Dollar Tree in search of…adventure? Excitement?  Jedis crave not these things, but find them we did.

Avengers-themed Santa hats! Cute mini colanders! Air fresheners that are comprised of little odoriferous gel beads! Thin Wheat!

Most of the budget was spent on food science and production, so Marketing had only 8 minutes to devise the product name.  “We have to go to print, Dave. ‘Thin Wheat.’ THAT’S WHAT THEY ARE, DAVE.”

There were practical quest items too, of course:  dishware, pens, a shoe horn**, picture frames, a fine assortment of cleaning products, etc.   But the odd and inexplicable proved much more fun.

**@snarke explained the shoe horn’s functionality to me. It looked like something that belonged on a giant sheep.

Has never used a shoe horn.

If you’re reading this post and thinking “I’m glad that worked out well for you, but I’ve shopped in a dollar store before, and it’s not all that and a bag of chips,” I would submit to you that your local branch carries several brands of chips…and more.

I believe exploration of this bargain Universe will need to reoccur on the regular.
